2004 Biofuel Trends Alert

For those in the biofuels industry, here's a must-read review of 2004 activities at the state level - the Council of State Government's 2004 Biofuel Trends Alert.

The report covers a range of topics, including energy balance and production costs, energy security, economic impact on agricultural and rural communities, and the environmental impacts of biofuels. It also gives a quick overview of the trends of biofuel production as well as policy options and state activities to encourage biofuel production and use.

According to the report: "There are now 43 states using production and/or application-based incentives to promote the production, distribution and adoption of biofuels. Applications incentives are the most popular: 41 states have incentives supporting biofuels applications, while 23 states provide some form of production incentive. Twenty-one states use both types of incentives." Read the full report to find out more - its an excellent resource.

By-the-way, we came across the link to the report over at Minnesotans for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ME3.org for short). For those who don't know, ME3.org is one of the best resources on the net for renewable energy information and links. Don't let the name fool you, they have resources and cover topics that extend well beyond Minnesota. And they've even got an RSS feed, so you can keep track of the site's news and updates through a newsreader (like Bloglines). Check it out if you haven't already.
