Wind Farmer's Network Question and Answer Session

The Wind Farmer's Network, an excellent on-line resource produced by Windustry, has a new question and answer feature that addresses issues related to community wind projects. They've just posted the second question and answer session with Sean Middleton, Manager of Engineering at Illinois Rural Electric Cooperative in Pike County, Illinois. Sean was involved in the IREC's installation of a Vestas 1.65 MW turbine in western Illinois, and he answers a questions on a range of issues, including among others: funding & grant sources (including the USDA's Section 9006 grant program); interconnection; turbine selection; easements; the production tax credit; and general project challenges.

On a similar note, Keith Good, of farmpolicy.com, just brought this resource to our attention: The Farm Bill Clean Energy Site, run by the Environmental Law and Policy Center. The site provides a wealth of resources on the USDA's Section 9006 program, which offers grants (ranging from $2,500-$500,000) to rural small businesses for energy efficiency or renewable energy projects. Thanks for the tip Keith.
